Man! What a night! The National Constitution Center shook to it's very foundation last night at the Christine Phillips Fashion Show. This was my third year providing music for the 8th Annual event and the show gets better EVERY year!
The theme this year was "The Bloom" and it was hosted by Philly's own Stephanie Humphrey (pics of me and her above). Stephanie Humphrey is a television personality, actor, model, and community leader in the greater Philadelphia area. She's appeared on KYW 3 and the CW Phiily.
The show kicked off with Chrissy's Fashion Boot Camp....these young ladies got the chance the model outfits THEY designed and put together! Nothing's cooler than watching a dozen or so young ladies strut down the runway proud of what they did. They rocked out to a DJ Bishop mix of "When I Grow Up" by the Pussycat Dolls and "American Boy" by Estelle & Kanye West.
When the Boot Camp segment was over, Ms. Humphrey then introduced Mike Scott who's a member of the Board of Directors of the International Myeloma Foundation. He presented a quick video on multiple myeloma...very eye opening. Proceeds from the Fashion Show are going to benefit the IMF and myeloma research.
Then it was time for the main event...Lisa Miller played a lovely rendition "The Lord's Prayer" on violin. It was a pleasure meeting her and her father....real cool people. Once Lisa was done, yours truly turned up the volume and kicked off the 2009 Christine Phillips Fashion Show with "Colleen" by The Heavy. The crowd really got into the horns and baseline from that track. The models woked out wearing Chrissy's Executive Chic coat collection.
The next group of models showed out Chrissy's Executive Chic collection with "Killing" by The Apples rockin' in the background....Chrissy really loved this track! She was dancing backstage! Then the fellas came out wearing Chrissy's Men's collection to "Love Lockdown" by Kanye West.
Chrissy's Sprucers collection ripped the runway to "Bounce With Me" by Kressha Turner. Her Formal collection slowed the mood down to "Magicman" by Bonobo. Then it was time for the finale....."Your Show" by Michelle Bonilla had the crowd going while all the models came back on the runway to show the outfits to the crowd for the last time. Then the crowd gave a well deserved round of applause to Chrissy herself!
The event was awesome....if you missed it, you missed out.
